Mythic and Celestial Medicine

The spirit pivots the moment we move towards relationship with the symbol.

Chinese Medicine rests on the symbol, visioning the body through myth and metaphor. A poetic flourishing pouring down from the Big Dipper. It views the body as a kingdom, with the Heart as the ruling Empress/Emperor. Each acupuncture point is a living spirit communicating through name, pulse, body and season. The I Ching: The Book of Changes expressed in the symbols of trigrams and hexagrams captures the human condition and emerged over thousands of years and deeply informs Classical Chinese Medical Theory.

Like acupuncture points, the stars, the moon and the planets speak. Their movements mark time, creating larger cycles, the seasons and the tides. They etch out our relationship with darkness and light. Their symbols have the unique capacity to capture the archetype - no matter the culture or time.

My offering of Mythic and Celestial Medicine encompasses the ways in which I help my clients access this living communication from all paths as they arrive in session such as Chinese, Biblical, Gnostic, Egyptian, Grego-Roman, Nordic, Vedic, etc. I use story, art, voice, active imagination, embodiment practices, ritual and ceremony to deepen our relationship with self, nature, culture, and other human and non-human beings. Mythic Medicine is woven into my acupuncture and somatic and Andean energy medicine offerings.
